With interiors by acclaimed designer Renee Coleman, sweeping views across the suburb and out to the Swan River, Freo Port and Indian Ocean, Sweetwater packs a punch from the moment you step out of the lift.
Set on the sixth floor the rooftop venue was an integral part of the 87 million Richmond Quarter design. It sits exactly where the old Richmond Theatre was up until the 1950s, which we will pay homage to by showing art house films. Check out our Whats On page for upcoming screenings plus events and promotions.
Holding many ties to the community history of East Fremantle, Sweetwater’s license dates back to the early 1900s, where it was the original license from the old Royal George Hotel on neighbouring George Street. The venue’s name comes from the prohibition period when the term ‘sweetwater’ was used as a code word for alcohol.
Complementing the delicious fare on offer, Sweetwater has a gimmick-free wine and cocktail list packed with classic combinations.
Sweetwater uses the best modern methods possible to produce delicious classic cocktails that never go out of style. The original team was handpicked and trained acclaimed bartender Ben Tua, so you expect something special that’s a little bit fancy but not posh.
Situated directly under the venue is a 24 key boutique apartment hotel, managed by Seashells Hospitality Group, with interiors by renowned stylist Renee Coleman. Sweetwater is a destination venue where you can eat, drink and stay.
